Brother Knights and Families:
Thanksgiving and all the wonderful events surrounding this holiday is here. We take account of all Blessings (family, friends, great food, health, treasure and memories) bestowed on us by our creator. We were blessed with wonderful weather and many of us spent quality time with those who we hold dear.
As a Church Community we also celebrated the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The readings of this feast: Ezekiel, Corinthians, and Matthew all speak the need to care for those who need us most. The hungry, homeless, sick and suffering, unemployed, widowed. Our fraternal community of the Knights of Columbus continues to strive to meet these noble ideals. Sometimes we fall victim to distraction, fatigue, weakness or self-interest, but this time of year and this Feast helps to reinforce and encourage us in our primary mission of charity to our Church and Community. We held many events in November to help us live out primary mission of Charity.
Our Ladies Auxiliary led by Jan Cogar hosted their annual Chili & Bingo Fundraiser on November 18, 2017 at our Council Hall. This event supports our Children’s Christmas party and will provide a wonderful memory to the young children in our Council Community on December 9, 2017.
Our Fourth Degree Assembly led by Larry Allwine, Council, Ladies Auxiliary, and Squires hosted a special Veterans Breakfast on to honor our military on November 11, 2017 at IHM. We served breakfast and held a special patriotic ceremony to and a few hundred military veterans and their families.
Our Youth Director, Ozzie Mazzuca will be leading our annual Coats for Kids drive at Holy Cross Parish on December 2, 2017. We will distribute 120 Coats to those children in need of a warm coat for the coming winter. We will also give thanks and show our appreciation for the all the wonderful members of our Ladies Auxiliary by hosting and serving Christmas Dinner in their honor on December 14, 2017. All members of our Ladies Auxiliary are we welcome to RSVP to Charlene Malsom so we can adequately plan for this event.
Finally, I would like to ask your help in making sure we account for and recognize the many hours of Fraternal Service provided by our Council, Assembly, Auxiliary and Squires over the past year. Ron Ondrak is compiling the needed information to complete our Annual Survey of Frater-nal Activity for 2017. We have distributed this document in both electronic and paper versions. Please take a moment to fill out and return this document to Ron Ondrak by December 15, 2017. If you need another copy or have questions please let me know.
Hoping to see all of you at one of our many events in December. Thanks for all you do!
