Brother Knights and Families:
The period of Advent in the Church calendar calls us to reflect and prepare ourselves for the arrival of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The visitation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary and the fulfillment of God’s promise to us through the Holy Spirit in the conception of infant child.

Our Knights to Christ daily devotional cites a passage this month from the Gospel of Luke Chapter 6:38 in which Jesus says “give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” As a Council we strive to live by these words though our acts of Charity in this season of “giving.”
Our Youth Director, Ozzie Mazzuca led our annual Coats for Kids drive at Holy Cross Parish on December 2, 2017. We distributed over 100 Coats to those children in need of a warm coat for the coming winter. Our Ladies Auxiliary donated beautiful mittens to compliment these Coats and the Squires Circle donated larger sized coats as well. The Children at Holy Cross Religious Education were very appreciative of our efforts and our IHM Food Bank also received a donation of coats. Thanks so much to all who participated.
At our State Mid-Year Meeting we discussed the plight of the Christians in the Middle East. Our order has donated millions to help those in living their Faith which has put them in harm’s way. As a Council this spring we will be looking at options to do our part in giving back to our fellow Christians in desperate need of our help.
Looking Ahead:
Closer to home, we are always looking for ways to assist our Brother Knights and Families in their hour of need. On January 6, 2018 we will sponsor a Spaghetti Dinner at our Hall to assist a Brother Knight in Need. Doors will open at 5pm, dinner will be served from 6-8pm. There is no charge for dinner, all donations collected will go to assisting this family. Our Council Director, Andre Casias will be leading this event. Please mark your calendars and come join us.
Our Council will also be participating in the annual Celebration of Life Rally in Denver on January 13, 2018. Joe Feiten and Tom Walls are leading the effort to bring members of our parish down to our State Capital for this great event. The walk itself is short and is not mandatory if you would like to just attend the Rally. Buses will be at IHM to transport all who would like to participate at 11:30am. We will return back to IHM as soon as the event concludes in the early afternoon.
Finally, the Monthly Newsletter in which you are reading the letter is undergoing some needed changes. Aaron Herrera is doing a great job in serving as our Editor. You will notice additional Spiritual Content and Photos of our many events in which we are “giving back” to our Church and Community. Please reach out to Aaron (his contact information is listed) if you have suggestions on improving our Content or Communication our Newsletter.
We held many Christmas celebrations in December and it was wonderful to celebrate together. Let us always remember, Jesus is the “Reason for the Season.” Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Health New Year in 2018!
Vivat Jesus
